Welcome to Miss Leeds Area Teen Pageant!  We are excited about the opportunity to have the
brightest and most talented teen girls from across the state in Leeds.  Miss Leeds Area Outstanding
Teen Pageant is open to young women ages 13-17 years old.  The winner of this pageant will have her
fees paid to the Miss Alabama Outstanding Teen Pageant and will represent Leeds in this competition
to be held in Sylacauga in March, 2011.  

The Miss Leeds Area Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 7 PM at the
Leeds High School.  The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the pageant will begin at 7:00 p.m.  
Admission to the pageant will be $10.  
The deadline for the paperwork is July 20, 2010.  See the
checklist for paperwork requirements and mail or hand deliver completed documents to:  The Leeds
Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 900 (7901 Parkway Drive), Leeds, AL  35094.  The pageant will
be limited to the first 10 girls that submit COMPLETED paperwork.  
Send your paperwork in as soon as possible.  It is never too early.  

PAGEANT PARTICULARS  
You will arrive at Leeds High School on July 31st at 7:30 a.m.  There will be a brief orientation, in which your
mothers may attend if they like, then they must leave and return in the evening.  There will be no
visitors, phone calls or outside contact during the day.  Numbers will be pre-assigned and announced
pageant day.  The fee for entering the pageant is $100 and includes, meals and snacks, a gift bag and
other prizes.  Winner and runners-up prizes will be announced before the pageant.  

After the orientation, you will be permitted to practice your talent on stage twice in number order.  After
you rehearse, you will prepare YOURSELF for the interview competition.  (We will have backstage
moms to assist with buttons, zippers, etc., but remember you are responsible for preparing your hair,
makeup and dressing.)

For competition, you will need an interview suit, your talent costume, a cocktail-type dress (color of
your choice), a plain T-shirt and black athletic shorts for physical fitness and an evening gown.  
PHASES OF COMPETITION
INTERVIEW:  This is your opportunity to meet the judges and let them get to know you (the interview
time will be determined by how many contestants and will vary from 5 to 8 minutes).  You will need to
wear a suit, (no pants), proper hosiery and shoes.  During the interview you will be asked questions
from the interview sheet, as well as questions that deal with national, state and local interests.  Be
prepared.  When preparing your interview sheet, please make sure it is neat and ONE PAGE.  It will be
seen by the judges exactly as it is submitted to the Miss Leeds Area Pageant.  
(Percentage of score:  35%)
FITNESS COMPETITION:  On pageant day, we will teach you a brief physical fitness routine.  You will
be responsible for bringing a T-shirt (any color) and black athletic shorts.  The T-shirt should be plain
with no writing or symbols on it  (Percentage of score:  10%)
TALENT COMPETITION:  Your talent selection must be no longer than 2 minutes.  Send a CD
recording of your music with your paperwork.  Please be sure your recording is of good quality.  If you
are an instrumentalist, you do not need to send a copy of your music.  (Percentage of score:  35%)
ON STAGE QUESTIONS:  This competition will take place while you are in your opening number
outfit.   The questions will deal with national, state or local interests.  Be prepared by becoming familiar
with the surrounding area as well as current issues.  (Percentage of score:  5%)
EVENING GOWN:  This is a very glamorous part of the competition and will be the last phase of
competition.  (Percentage of score:  15%)
